SEVENTEEN to release new album on 10th debut anniversary

by Joanna Deala

K-POP powerhouse SEVENTEEN will celebrate a milestone in a few weeks: its 10th anniversary in the music industry.

To mark this important occasion, the boy group will release its fifth album, “Happy Burstday,” on May 26.

SEVENTEEN revealed its upcoming projects in a video teaser on its YouTube channel, which looks like a horror-themed first-person video game.

Aside from the new album, SEVENTEEN will also go on a tour and release a new unit single album and new SEVENTEEN content, among other surprises it has in store for its fans, collectively known as CARATs.

The teaser ended with a frosted cake that exploded into flames, with the candle changing from “Happy Birthday” to “Happy Burstday.”

“Happy Burstday” is SEVENTEEN’s first music release in 2025, following its 12th mini album, “SPILL THE FEELS,” in October 2024.

The announcement came after SEVENTEEN held its ninth fan meeting, “SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND,” in March at Incheon Munhak Main Stadium. The fan meeting was particularly memorable for CARATs as this was Wonwoo’s last stage performance for the meantime before he began his mandatory military service.

SEVENTEEN promotes with 11 members, as Wonwoo and Jeonghan serve in the South Korean military.

The boy group last visited the Philippines in January 2025 for its “RIGHT HERE” concert at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan. SEVENTEEN, in partnership with global music streaming platform Spotify, also gave a pre-concert experience to its Filipino fans through CARAT Station Manila in Makati City.

A ‘self-producing’ idol group

SEVENTEEN has 13 members namely: S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. The members debuted on May 26, 2015, under PLEDIS Entertainment.

They are divided into three units: the vocal unit (led by Woozi), the rap unit (led by S.Coups), and the performance unit (led by Hoshi).

SEVENTEEN is known for being a “self-producing” idol group, with members participating in various aspects of their music and performances, including songwriting and choreography.

The boy group is considered one of the K-pop powerhouses today, topping different music charts and being named the third biggest-selling global recording artist of 2024 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), following pop icon Taylor Swift and Canadian rapper Drake.
