SB19 is Favorite Asian Act in Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

by Joanna Deala

P-POP powerhouse SB19 added a new feather to their already well-decorated cap after winning the Favorite Asian Act title at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA) 2024.

SB19 bested Japanese girl group NiziU, Indonesian singer Tiara Andini, Malaysian singer Iman Troye, and fourth-generation K-pop boy group Enhypen for the award.

The P-pop kings delivered the good news on Wednesday, July 17, thanking their fans, collectively known as A’TIN, for helping them realize their dreams.

“Winning Favorite Asian Act at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is a dream come true for us and for our country, The Philippines,” the group said, adding that the support and recognition they received “mean everything” to them.

“We are honored and excited for what’s next!” they continued.

Composed of Pablo, Stell, Josh, Ken, and Justin, SB19 said they dedicated the award to their A’TIN, whose support “fuels” their passion every day.

The P-pop phenomenon is not the first Filipino act to win the award.

Jake Zyrus, previously known as Charice, bagged the Favorite Asian Act title at the 2012 Nickelodeon KCA, besting Malaysian singer Yuna, Indonesian singer Agnes Monica, and second-generation K-pop girl group Wonder Girls.

The KCA is an annual awards ceremony that recognizes outstanding talents in the entertainment industry, including movies, television, and music.

Proud A’TIN

Many Filipino A’TIN turned emotional after learning about their idols’ latest recognition.

Several fans also extended their heartfelt gratitude to SB19 for all the things they have done for them and Philippine music, adding that they will continue to support the quintet.

Billboard Fan Army Face-Off nomination

SB19 is not the only one making a name for themselves in the music industry.

On Wednesday, American music and entertainment magazine Billboard announced that SB19’s fanbase was nominated anew for its 2024 Fan Army Face-Off.

A’TIN won in the 2023 Fan Army Face-Off, besting SEVENTEEN’s fanbase, popularly known as CARATs, with 51.1 percent of votes.

The first round of the 2024 Fan Army Face-Off showed A’TIN going up against the fans of American singer-songwriter SZA.

Fans of other big K-pop groups like BLACKPINK, BTS, TWICE, and SEVENTEEN, as well as pop icons Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift were nominated in the 2024 Fan Army Face-Off.

Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo also made it to the list.

The voting for the first round has begun and will end on July 13 at noon (Eastern Time), immediately kicking off the second round of the competition.
