ORIGINAL Pinoy Music (OPM) icons Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo won’t be performing in Los Angeles, California this week, as their upcoming concert in the area has been postponed amid the destructive wildfires.

In a statement on Bamboo’s social media accounts, organizers said they rescheduled the “Sarah Geronimo x Bamboo” concert, initially set for January 24 at SABAN Theater in Beverly Hills.

The new date for the concert is yet to be announced.

“In deference and to show sympathy to those impacted by this tragic event and to allow the general Los Angeles citizenry some time to recuperate, we feel it best for all to reschedule,” the organizers said.

“The safety and well-being of our attendees, staff, and community remain our top priority, and considering the current circumstances, we believe rescheduling the event is the most responsible course of action,” they added.

Those who have already purchased tickets for the January 2025 concert won’t have to worry because they will still be honored on the show’s new date, said the organizers.

“Sarah and Bamboo extend their love and concern for the people of Southern California and most especially to their fans,” they continued.

The wildfires, which erupted on January 7, have claimed the lives of at least 27 individuals and destroyed thousands of infrastructures across Los Angeles.

Among those affected by the raging wildfires is Gen Z Filipino-Australian singer Ylona Garcia, who had to evacuate her home in the area.

“I’m so sorry that all I can do right now is pray for everyone affected by these fires,” she wrote in an Instagram story last week. “Regardless, my prayers & heart go out to you.”

Other postponed events

As the wildfires continued to spread, more events that were supposed to be held in Los Angeles were postponed.

Last week, organizers of the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) 2025 said they would reschedule the event to a later date, as they called for continued support for the fire relief efforts.

This year’s festival will honor frontline workers and volunteers, including Filipino first responders, “who are heroically battling the wildfires,” according to MIFF Chairman and Co-Founder Omen Ortiz.

Other postponed events were: the “Above Ground” Benefit Concert of guitarists Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison, the annual Critics Choice Awards, and Selena Gomez’s “Rare” pop-up event, among many others.

Meanwhile, some shows were canceled including The Weeknd’s “The Rose Bowl” concert, a special sing-along screening for “Wicked” at Universal Studios Backlot, “Better Man’s” premiere in Los Angeles, Spotify’s Grammy Week events, and the 2025 Clio Music Awards.
