SELF-CARE is the most essential part of self-love, and RepublicAsia babies share how they do it.
What is self-care?
Self-care is a practice in which an individual looks after his or her health and well-being. The main purpose is to build resilience as you adapt to the stressors in life.
Taking care of oneself can also make you better in terms of your physical, mental, and emotional health.
Ivan, a web developer at RepublicAsia, thinks that self-care is a constant reminder that you love yourself. He does two things for himself: hang out with his friends or do nothing.
“Most times at the end of the day, I dive online with friends, hop onto a Discord call, hang out, watch stupid content, have dumb conversations, or play games together. Either that or I simply turn my brain off, stare at the ceiling on my bed, or mindlessly scroll through social media,’’ he says.
Gaby, a contributing writer, states that self-care means prioritizing yourself.
“In a nutshell, self-care is a part of self-love, because doing the former means that you know your worth,’’ she says.
Gaby would indulge herself by buying things she felt she deserved. She likes to invest in fashion, so taking trips to thrift shops, thrift conventions, and doing some retail shopping is something that makes her happy.
Aside from thrift and retail shopping, Gaby also enjoys buying blind boxes as it gives her a boost of serotonin.
Graphic designer JD values self-care as he gets to improve himself.
For him, self-care means playing games, watching a movie, going to a barber, getting a massage, and going to a spa.
