PVL wraps up All-Filipino Conference

by Bryan Gadingan

THE PREMIER Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference concluded with Creamline Cool Smashers running away with a 15-0 sweep on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Cool Smashers defeated the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in an exciting five-set match, 22-25, 25-20, 29-27, 24-26, 15-12. It was a game for the ages, as it turned into a marathon battle.

Tots Carlos, who led Creamline, was eventually chosen Finals MVP after ending with a 26-point performance. Bernadeth Pons and Jeanette Panaga contributed 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Despite the loss, Flying Titans’ Sisi Rondina shone with a personal best 33 points, including 29 on attacks, and was named Season MVP. Maddie Madayag and Kat Tolentino had 16 and 15 points, respectively.

The finals game, which featured Creamline and Choco Mucho, drew nearly 24,500 fans, breaking their previous attendance record of 19,157 in the MOA Arena last year. This is the largest indoor volleyball attendance in Philippine history at the Araneta Coliseum.

In their recent game, Creamline’s Alyssa Valdez reflected on how the sport began and expressed thanks for how people are embracing volleyball even more as time passes by.

“I’m very happy for the sport itself. I’m just really thankful that no matter sinong iniidolo nila, sinong sinusuportahan nila, we’re just so thankful for all of them sa binibigay nila na support sa mga teams na sinusuportahan nila,” said Valdez.
