AFTER winning Game 1, the Creamline Cool Smashers will try to complete their season with a 15-0 sweep of the competition and their third consecutive Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino title when they face the Choco Mucho Flying Titans tonight.
The Cool Smashers have their sights set on the trophy as they attempt to wrap up the series against Choco Mucho in Game Two of the 2023 PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference best-of-three championship today, December 16, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Creamline won the opening game with a score of 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, and 25-22 over Choco Mucho. They were then on the verge of winning their seventh PVL title and fifth All-Filipino title.
Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses, on the other hand, knows that the squad must still prepare itself because Choco Mucho is a challenging team to face, considering that they have a lot of tenacity in them and do not give up lightly on any match.
“Yung Choco Mucho nga, hindi rin talaga magpapatalo ‘yan kasi kita niyo naman, sa haba ng conference sila yung nakapasok. Mainit talaga ngayong conference. Hindi talaga kami (dapat) magpabaya pero hindi pa tapos, may Game 2 pa so trabaho ulit kami,” he remarked.
Tots Carlos and Jema Galanza lead the Cool Smashers with 16 points each. Maddie Madayag, on the other hand, led the Choco Mucho to a loss with her offensive brilliance of 18 points.
While the ever-present for the Flying Titans, Sisi Rondina, had 17 points and Kat Tolentino had 16. On their first meeting, Deanna Wong had 17 superb sets.
After Game Two of the best-of-three battle for third place between the Cignal HD Spikers and the Chery Tiggo Crossovers at 4 p.m., the defending champions will face the upset-seeking Flying Titan at 6 p.m.
