PVL: Chery Tiggo vying for a semis spot against F2 Logistics

by Bryan Gadingan

THE Chery Tiggo Crossovers are all fired up as they prepare to face F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League 2nd All-Filipino Conference semifinals this evening at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Crossovers currently have a 7-1 win-loss record and are ranked third in the team standings. They are one game behind the semis-bound Choco Mucho Flying Titans, and a win would almost certainly secure a semis spot.

Chery Tiggo previously defeated Cignal HD Spikers in a five-set battle, winning 17-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 16-14 to increase their chances of advancing to the semifinals.

Chery Tiggo, who has won five straight games, was led by Eya Laure, who proved that she is too much for the Crossovers after giving 26 points on 21 attacks, three blocks, and two aces.

“Ang dami pa kasi naming kakaining bigas dito sa pro league. Kumbaga ngayon, absorb lang kami nang absorb. Kung ano ‘yung maganda naming makukuha, babaunin namin sa mga susunod na laro. ‘Yung mga pangit, move on na lang,” Laure said.

Meanwhile, Chery Tiggo deputy coach Kung Fu Reyes stated that the team is now developing a never say die attitude, which has been vital to their earlier success, as evidenced by how they cling on even in tight games.

“Five sets, everybody’s ball game. Kung sinong unang kumurap, sinong unang pumikit, lalabas ka ng court ang sasabihin mo sayang. Both teams ‘yun, ‘yun ‘yung sakin,” Reyes stated.

“Nagkataon lang tumama kami sa dulo, especially nung nag-deuce na so ayun na. Ano eh, nag-struggle kami all throughout pero all along na-check namin nang na-check hanggang sa nakuha namin,” he added.

Meanwhile, F2 Logistics continues to fall down the ranks after failing to handle their responsibilities efficiently, losing straight games against Creamline, Cignal, and Choco Mucho.

Furthermore, these games are heavily controlled by their opponent, which is not a good sign while competing for a semi-final position. The Cargo Movers will attempt to snap their three-game losing streak and derail Chery Tiggo’s semi-final ambitions this evening.

In today’s triple header, the Cignal HD Spikers will face the Nxled Chameleons at 2:00 pm, while the Akari Chargers will face the Petro Gazz Angels at 4:00 pm.
