AS stated by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in his previous fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), for Filipinos to engage in a healthier lifestyle, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) now opens its track and field facilities to Filipinos for free.
On Tuesday, PSC made a post inviting Filipinos within their track fields.
Trackfields at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (Malate), the Philippine Sports Arena Complex (Pasig), and PSC Baguio (Teachers Camp) are now free of charge from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm every day.
PSC also added that they are still “fine-tuning their operation,” but are happy to welcome everyone back to the tracks.
Mentioning the increasing rate of obesity in the country during Marcos’ SONA, the decision to open the track and field facilities to the public for free aims to encourage more Filipinos to further engage in physical activity.
Adding to this initiative to encourage Filipinos to aim for a healthy lifestyle, he also gave an order to LGUs to further improve parks and public spaces, as well as initiating programs like “Car-free Sundays.”
Aside from taking an initiative that encourages Filipinos to engage in physical activities, Marcos also vowed that the government is setting up a new program for sports development in the country in support of sports and athletes.
