DESPITE not winning the country’s second Miss Supranational crown, beauty queen Alethea Ambrosio still made her countrymen proud by winning the Miss Supranational Asia and Oceania 2024 title.
The coronation night was held in Malopolska, Poland on Saturday, July 6, where Indonesia’s Harashta Haifa Zahra was crowned the new Miss Supranational.
Besting 67 candidates, the 20-year-old environmental engineering student succeeded Ecuador’s Andrea Aguilera and made history as the first beauty queen to win her country’s first Miss Supranational crown.
Her royal court includes Jenna Dysktra of the United States (first runner-up), Justyna Zednikova of the Czech Republic (second runner-up), Isadora Murta of Brazil (third runner-up), and Chanelle de Lau of Curacao (fourth runner-up).
On social media, The Miss Philippines congratulated Ambrosio for clinching the award given to the highest-placing delegate from the region who did not make it to the Top 5.
“You have brought so much pride to the nation,” the organization said.
The Bulakenya beauty queen concluded her Miss Supranational journey in the Top 12.
During the Top 12 question-and-answer segment, the candidates convinced the panel of experts why they should be the next brand ambassador of the Miss Supranational organization.
In answering the question, Ambrosio highlighted her mission as a “cultural torchbearer.”
“In my country, where beauty queens are often applauded for speaking in English, I won my national title using Filipino, our national language. As a cultural torchbearer, I seek to lead the path in forging cross-cultural understanding among my sisters as your next Miss Supranational Ambassadress,” she said.
During the coronation night, Ambrosio also showcased the talents of Filipino designers when she walked the runway with their masterpieces. She wore a black slit dress with sheer sleeves made by designer Joseph Palma and a sheer dress adorned with pink seashells by Larry Espinosa.
Ambrosio was crowned Miss Supranational Philippines 2024 in February, succeeding Miss Supranational 2023 first runner-up Pauline Amelinckx.
Currently, the Philippines has one Miss Supranational crown won by Pinay beauty queen and model Mutya Datul in 2013.
Proud kababayans
Congratulatory messages filled the comment section of The Miss Philippines’ post, with many netizens expressing how proud they are of Ambrosio for representing the country on the international stage.
Several social media users said the Philippine bet deserved to win the Miss Supranational Asia and Oceania 2024 title.
Among those who congratulated Ambrosio for her milestone is Mister Supranational 2024 second runner-up Brandon Espiritu.
On Instagram, Espiritu shared a clip of him with Ambrosio where they could be heard saying, “We did it, Philippines!”
“I’m so proud of you and I really mean it when I say you’re like the female version of me. We’re both ready to compete to our fullest!” he said.
