by Deanna Macaranas

LOOKING forward to getting a valid ID? You may want to check the PhilPost postal ID.

After suspending its distribution last March 2023, The Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) announced its comeback last Tuesday.

PhilPost postal IDs can be valid for up to 3 years for Filipino citizens and up to a year for foreign nationals.

For financial transactions as well as government services, the Postal ID can be utilized. Indeed, it is acceptable for passport applications to be submitted to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The Postal ID is made of sturdy PVC and has biometric information for increased security.

How to get your postal ID:

For new applications:

Step 1:

Before signing up for an application, an original copy and a photocopy of proof of identity is need to be submitted. This could be through a form of birth certificate that is issued by PSA, GSIS or SSS card, a driver’s license, or a passport.

Proof of address is also needed in addition to evidence of identity. This includes an original and a photocopy of a barangay clearance, a certified true copy of a lease, a certified true copy of titles, a certified true copy of a real estate tax receipt, a bank statement, a credit card statement, a school billing statement, or a utility bill.

Step 2:

The second part is to fill out two copies that is available at post offices. Or you can just download it here

Step 3:

The third step is to visit a capturing Post Office Branch. Only few post office outlets allow applicants to submit their forms in person. Regretfully, as of this writing, there is no online application option accessible.

Step 4:

The fourth step is to submit the application which includes your documents and application forms. After having to submit your documents and applications, you will pay the fee of P550.

For renewal:

The procedure is the same: complete two application forms, present your Postal ID that has expired, and provide proof of identification and address if your information has changed. Pay the cost, get your data recorded, and visit a Capturing Post Office. Lastly, watch for the delivery of your ID to your mailing address.
