Philippines to build “Taylor Swift-ready” stadium in Clark by 2028

by Deanna Macaranas

A STADIUM that can accommodate massive concerts by global pop stars like Taylor Swift is set to be constructed in Clark, Pampanga, by 2028.

In an interview with PTV, Clark International Airport and Corp. (CIAC) President and chief executive officer Arrey Perez said that they are looking forward to building a stadium that will be within walking distance from the Clark International Airport in Pampanga.

The proposed stadium project measures around 400 hectares and has an estimated cost of P32 billion.

Perez said that their vision of an entertainment center at Clark had been heavily promoted, attracting a mix of local and international companies from Singapore and the United States who were willing to invest.

“Some are willing to join forces together. And when it comes to this project, it’s going to be a public-private partnership. It’s a huge undertaking, it’s forty hectares and more than P30 billion, so we will really need a partnership with the private sector to build the project,” Perez said.

He also said that they were eyeing Swift to perform in the stadium once it’s completed.

Aside from entertainment, Perez is also hoping to entice tourists to visit New Clark City, noting how Clark needed more attractions so they can captivate passengers and more airlines to go to the airport.

Swift’s “The Eras Tour” became one of the most well-known concert tours, capturing interest of many people especially youngsters. While “The Eras Tour” has Southeast Asian stops, it did not include the Philippines.

Upon the announcement of the Clark stadium project, netizens expressed various reaction.
