Philippine Dining Shines: 9 Local Restaurants Earn Michelin Stars

AS THE year draws to a close, the Philippines has achieved a remarkable culinary milestone with nine local restaurants earning Michelin stars — a historic achievement for the nation’s continually evolving dining landscape.

This recognition was unveiled during the inaugural Michelin Guide Ceremony: Manila and Environs & Cebu 2026, held Thursday evening at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Newport World Resorts.

In essence, this milestone not only honors the artistry and ingenuity of Filipino chefs but also underscores the growing international admiration for the Philippines’ rich and diverse culinary identity.

Michelin-Starred

Receiving one Michelin star signifies that a restaurant delivers “high-quality cooking worth a stop,” while two stars denote “excellent cuisine worth a detour,” and three stars celebrate “exceptional dining worth a special journey.”

For the first time, Helm earned Two Michelin Stars, while Asador Alfonso, Celera, Gallery by Chele, Hapag, Inatô, Kasa Palma, Linamnam, and Toyo Eatery each received One Michelin Star.

“I wasn’t expecting that. I’m beyond surprised but also obviously extremely emotional at the same time,” Helm’s Chef Josh Boutwood said in an interview with GMA News.

“My team has worked extremely hard since the conception of Helm, and this is a testament to how hard we have pushed our boundaries—and we will continue pushing,” he went on to say.

Meanwhile, further proving that the country’s rich culinary heritage deserves recognition on the global stage, several other restaurants received prestigious honors from Michelin.

Michelin also granted the Bib Gourmand distinction to 25 restaurants—an award given to establishments serving good food at good value—while 74 more were named Michelin Selected for their outstanding quality and craftsmanship.
