PH Athletes’ full Paris 2024 schedule

by Bryan Gadingan

THE 2024 Paris Olympics has begun, and after months of preparation, Filipino athletes are more than ready to go on a historic journey as they commemorate their 100th year of participation in the games.

The Philippines is highly represented at this year’s Summer Games with 22 Filipino athletes competing in a variety of sports including athletics, gymnastics, weightlifting, boxing, fencing, golf, judo, rowing, and swimming.

The Filipino nation is behind these players as motivators, aiming for another historic year and maybe outperforming the country’s performance at the Tokyo Olympics.

Bambol Tolentino: PH is confident

Before the opening day, the President of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, stated that the Filipino athletes are in a different attitude this year, full of confidence.

“We’re all excited. Iba nang level ‘to eh, From training camp, the mood of the athletes, talagang level up lahat. Even yung support,” said Toletino during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum in Manila on Tuesday.

“Ang atin pong training camp, ang kauna-unahang training camp sa isang Olympics. Sila po ay nasa France, at halos nasa peak na ng kanilang pagte-training. Sama-sama na po sila ngayon, and all of them are being taken care of. Nag aantay na lang po tayo.”

Given that the Philippines was able to better prepare for this year’s Olympics with detailed preparations and training camps for the athletes, Tolentino feels that the athletes will outperform their Tokyo performance.

“Ang pinaka-magandang nakikita ko, conservatively and God-willing, we will surpass the Tokyo record,” he said.

“With our preparation, with the condition of our athletes, nag level-up na yung mga training at atleta natin. Sigurado yun, mag de-deliver yung mga atleta natin.”
