Cruz-Alviar is known for hit romantic-comedy films “Crazy Beautiful You” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” family comedy-drama “Four Sisters Before the Wedding,” and science fiction romantic drama “Rewind.”
San Miguel, on the other hand, wrote the current highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, “Hello, Love, Again.”
On Instagram, the “PBB” stars expressed their excitement and gratitude for being part of “Love You So Bad.”
“To my supporters: salamat po sa lahat. I will do my best to make you all proud,’ said Ashley.
Meanwhile, Yu said, “A huge thank you to my Regal family, Star Cinema, and GMA Pictures for trusting me with this project. And most of all, thank you to everyone who continues to support and believe in us — para sainyo ito.”
De Vera shared a group photo with Ashley and Yu, and captioned her post, “‘Love You So Bad.’ Coming soon in cinemas nationwide.”
Their fans are also thrilled about the forthcoming film, making the terms “LoveYU SO BAD DEVERA” and “WILLCAtch THE BIGSCREEN” trend on X (formerly Twitter) as they root for their favorite on-screen pair.
Fans have been noticing de Vera’s strong chemistry with Yu and Ashley since their “PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition” days, and later coined their ships as “DusBia” for de Vera and Yu and “WillCa” for de Vera and Ashley.
Inspired by a 1998 Pinoy romance film
Further details about “Love You So Bad,” including the characters the celebrities will portray and the movie’s premiere date, have yet to be unveiled. However, San Miguel said it will be inspired by the 1998 romance film “Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita.”
Directed by Wenn Deramas and produced by Star Cinema, “Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita” follows the love triangle between Mela, a campus “bad girl,” her unfaithful ex-boyfriend, Ryan, and her school’s “Mr. Perfect,” Miguel. The movie starred Claudine Barretto, Deither Ocampo, and Rico Yan.
In an interview with TV Patrol, San Miguel and Cruz-Alviar clarified that “Love You So Bad” is not a remake of the 1998 romance film.
“Inspired by because the story, as Crystal mentioned, is relevant to this day. It’s timeless,” said Cruz-Alviar.
The filmmaker also told 24 Oras’ Chika Minute that there will be a “tug-of-war” between Ashley, de Vera, and Yu.
“Who is going to win? [It is a] beautiful love story, full of kilig, lots of lessons, and of course, this will resonate [with] all,” the director.
San Miguel also shared, “Magkaibang-magkaiba rin ‘yung kind of love na i-te-tell din kasi namin.”
Filming for “Love You So Bad” will begin “soon,” according to its cast and crew.
Ashley and de Vera previously worked together in the 2023 romance drama series “Unbreak My Heart,” while Ashley and Yu joined forces in the 2022 drama series “Mano Po Legacy: The Flower Sisters.”
