GLOBAL streaming platform Disney+ unveiled the first looks at the forthcoming action-packed fantasy series, “Twelve,” starring South Korean actors Park Hyung Sik and Don Lee.
“Twelve” unearths the story of 12 zodiac guardians who long ago battled and sealed away evil spirits after a monumental sacrifice to preserve humanity.
But just when they think it is over, evil forces once again rise to threaten modern-day Seoul, prompting the remaining guardians, who are working odd jobs, to regroup to protect the human race and the Korean Peninsula from being consumed by darkness.
Lee plays the role of Taesan, the leader of the “Twelve” and an angel symbolizing the tiger. He will fight against Park’s character, Ogwi, an ancient evil who is sealed away for a thousand years.
Joining them are South Korean stars Seo In Guk as Won Seung, Lee Joo Bin as Mir, Ko Kyu Pil as Don Yi, Kang Mina as Kang Ji, Sung Yoo Bin as Jwidol, Ahn Ji Hye as Mal Suk, and Taiwanese actress Regina Lei as Bang Wool—the angels symbolizing the monkey, dragon, pig, dog, rat, horse, and snake, respectively, according to Korean media outlets.
Veteran Korean actor Sung Dong Il is also part of the star-studded cast, giving life to the character of Ma Rok, a human with special abilities chosen by God and the 12 angels’ manager.
“Twelve” is written by Lee and Kim Bong Han, who directed and wrote the 2020 South Korean action-comedy film “The Golden Holiday,” which was shot in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the new series is helmed by Kang Daekyu, known for his films “Harmony” and “Pawn,” and Han Yunseon, who directed the 2014 action drama film “18-Eighteen Noir.”
“Twelve” will be available on Disney+ starting August 23.
Return to small screen
“Twelve” is Lee’s first Korean series in nine years. He last starred in the 2016 series “Squad 38” with Seo. Lee played the role of a manager of a tax collection bureau, while Seo portrayed a professional swindler.
Lee is known for his award-winning roles in several notable films like “The Outlaws,” “Train to Busan,” and “The Neighbors.”
Meanwhile, “Twelve” is Park’s second Korean series this year after “Buried Hearts,” which also premiered on Disney+.
Park starred in some hit K-dramas, including “The Heirs,” “Strong Girl Bong-soon,” “Suits,” “Happiness,” and “Doctor Slump.”
The actor last visited the Philippines in 2024 for his “SIKcret Time” fan meet at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
