A property developer revealed on Thursday that one of the incentives for gold medalists would be a P24 million fully furnished two-bedroom unit in the 50-hectare McKinley Hill development.

“This 2024, we are celebrating our 100th year of participating in the Olympic Games,” said Megaworld president Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso in a statement.

“And what a way to celebrate this milestone than by recognizing the superb competitive spirit of our newest Olympic gold medalist.”

A perfect spot for champion athletes

Gutierrez-Alfonso noted that McKinley Hill would be an ideal location for these athletes because it is already populated by some and would be a terrific site to consider as a destination for winners.

“As one of the most celebrated addresses in Fort Bonifacio, McKinley Hill is home to several world-class athletes, including members of the Philippine national teams for basketball and football.”

“This makes it a perfect home for Filipino champions who live a life of passion and excellence through and through,” he went on.

With a significant incentive waiting for potential gold medalists, these competitors will undoubtedly be more motivated. However, who remains in the Philippine mission in Paris?

Who can we expect?

Currently, the closest competitor with a clear shot at the gold medal is gymnastics great Carlos Yulo, who is preparing to compete in the vault and floor exercises following his impressive performance in the qualification round.

Meanwhile, Hergie Bacyadan and Eumir Marcial have not advanced their Paris medal hopes, but Carlo Paalam, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas remain in contention in men’s and women’s boxing.

Fencer Sam Catantan was eliminated in the round of 32 of the women’s solo foil, while Kiyomi Watanabe was eliminated from the 63kg event of the women’s judo competition.

Swimmer Kayla Sanchez and rower Joanie Delgaco are no longer in medal contention, as are the historic women’s gymnastics trio of Aleah Finnegan, Emma Malabuyo, and Levi Ruivivar.

Nonetheless, record-breaking pole vaulter EJ Obiena, swimming’s Jarod Hatch, athletics’ John Cabang and Lauren Hoffman, and golfers Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina have yet to make their debuts.

Along with weightlifter John Ceniza, Elreen Ando, and Vanessa Sarno are still in the mix because their events have not yet begun.

Olympic medalists will receive government incentives in addition to the residential condominium units supplied by Megaworld, totaling millions.

Gold medalists will get P10 million and an Olympic Gold Medal of Valour, silver medalists P5 million, and bronze medalists P2 million.
