P-pop group ALAMAT to release first LP; hold first solo concert

by Joanna Deala

FANS of the P-pop group ALAMAT are in for some surprises in the group’s first-ever solo concert in December.

In an exclusive interview with republicasia on Monday, ALAMAT announced that its fans, collectively known as Magiliw, should anticipate solo performances from the boy group in the upcoming musical event.

Dahil solo concert ‘to, meron din kaming solo din dito sa concert na ‘to,” said Tomas, one of its members.

The six-member boy group, composed of Tomas, Taneo, Mo, Jao, R-Ji and Alas, dropped in August the news about the concert, which promises an “ultimate ALAMAT experience.” The event will be held at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City on December 1 at 8 p.m.

With less than two months to prepare, Taneo shared that they have been rehearsing and reviewing all their songs, as well as learning new songs.

“We also try to prepare physically and mentally by doing routines that strengthen us,” he said.

ALAMAT recently announced that its concert will be titled “Dagundong,” which means “rumble.”

According to Jao, they chose “Dagundong” because they want to make noise and show the world who ALAMAT is.

Sa concert na ‘to, gusto naming mag-ingay. Gusto naming ilabas kung ano ang pwede naming ipakita sa lahat, ito na ang time para Dumagundong,” he said.

The members said that they are also excited for their first solo concert, which they believe would be an unforgettable one.

Magiging memorable ‘to sa’min and dito sa concert na ‘to dito rin namin mapapakita kung ano yung kaya naming gawin,” Alas said.

Tickets opened for sale on September 15 and are available via TicketNet. Prices range from P499 for Balcony to P3,000 for SVIP.

SVIP ticket holders will be given access to ALAMAT’s meet-and-greet and soundcheck.

‘IsaPuso’ LP

Aside from the concert, Magiliw should also look forward to the upcoming release of ALAMAT’s first-ever Long Play (LP) titled “IsaPuso.” This follows the group’s first mini album “Pasulong,” released in October 2022.

Lagi naming sinasabay sa mga music video namin yung history ng Pilipino, yung mga pinagdaanan ng mga Pilipino. Ngayon, sa isang album namin ire-release, ‘IsaPuso,’” Tomas said.

He added, “Yung target namin don is isang puso yung Pinoy, nasa puso natin yung pagiging Pinoy. Iisa tayo.”

In a separate statement, ALAMAT’s creative director Jason Paul Laxamana said that “IsaPuso” is a play on the words “isapuso,” which means “to take to heart,” and “isa(ng) puso,” which refers to having “one heart.”

The LP will mirror the members’ current frame of mind, where they have taken to their hearts what they are doing and have been moving in harmony with each other.

“IsaPuso” will include the tracks “Walang Hanggan” and “Day and Night,” which were released in August and June 2023, respectively.

It will also introduce “new styles and themes” that will mix with ALAMAT’s brand of incorporating Philippine cultural heritage in its songs.

Laxamana said the group will retain its same sonic brand in the LP, “but with a stronger intent of being emotionally and culturally relatable.”

With this, Magiliw can expect that the new album will take them on a rollercoaster of emotions, from badass to heartwarming, groovy and inspiring feelings.

“IsaPuso” will be released digitally in November.
