MEMBERS of the popular Taiwanese boy group F4 had a surprise reunion at the anniversary concert of rock band Mayday, evoking nostalgia and delight among their global fans.
Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu, and Vanness Wu—the four male leads in the iconic Taiwanese television series “Meteor Garden”—appeared as guest performers at the band’s 25th anniversary concert on Saturday, July 12, at the Taipei Dome.
Clad in their stylish suits, the quartet sang live onstage their hit single “Meteor Rain,” which served as the theme song of their 2001 drama with the late actress Barbie Hsu. They were joined on the stage by Mayday, who played the musical instruments in the background.
The F4 members were quick to share photos and videos from their long-awaited reunion on their respective Instagram pages, including a snapshot of their group hug.
Meanwhile, several fans became emotional over the F4’s reunion, which came after more than a decade since their performance at the Spring Festival Gala in 2013 in China.
“Call me OA, pero I’m seriously crying right now,” one Filipino fan said. “Grabe, it’s like my entire high school life is flashing before my eyes.”
“It brings back my good old days. A young part of me has awakened,” another Instagram user said.
Another netizen described the F4’s reunion as a “happy moment” for all their fans.
Some, on the other hand, hoped that the quartet would embark on an Asian tour, including the Philippines.
In June, the Taiwanese boy group was reported to hold a reunion concert in 2026 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut. Citing a report by Mirror Media, the Straits Times said Taiwan-based recording company B’in Music is behind the comeback concert.
Further details about the event have yet to be confirmed, but the report mentioned that the quartet might also visit other Asian countries aside from China and Taiwan.
About F4
Jerry, Vic, Ken, and Vanness were formed as F4 in 2001, following the success of “Meteor Garden.”
The group released three studio albums: “Meteor Rain” in 2001, “Fantasy 4ever” in 2002, and “Waiting for You” in 2007. They also held concerts in different countries, including the Philippines in 2003 for the “F4 Live! Happy New Year 2004.”
In 2007, they changed their name to “JVKV,” the first initials of the members’ names, due to copyright issues. They disbanded in 2009.
F4 was named after the quartet’s popular fictional group in “Meteor Garden,” known for being rich and handsome yet arrogant. Jerry portrayed Daoming Si, the stubborn and hot-headed F4 leader, Vic as Huaze Lei, Ken as Ximen, and Vanness as Meizuo—all heirs of the four influential families in Taiwan.
The series follows the love story between Daoming Si and Shancai (played by Hsu), a poor but strong-willed and hardworking student, and how they overcome adversity despite the huge difference in their family backgrounds.
“Meteor Garden” first aired on Philippine television in 2003.
