“Same, Lee Dong Wook, same.”
NETIZENS who are probably taking a break in dating seem to have found an ally in South Korean actor Lee Dong Wook, who revealed that he was “lazy” to date.
Lee, who starred in various hit Korean dramas like “My Girl,” “Goblin,” and “Tale of the Nine Tailed,” shared his dating life in the online show “Pinggyego,” hosted by Yoo Jae Suk.
The 42-year-old actor explained how dating could be exhausting, which is why he is not rushing into romance.
“I don’t think I can date anymore. I’m so lazy. To date, you have to become friends with someone,” he said, as translated by Koreaboo. “I don’t remember how to do that anymore, it’s been so long.”
But this does not mean he’s closing his doors on dating. “I do want to date, but I’m lazy,” he clarified.
Social media users, meanwhile, found themselves on the same boat as Lee, saying that getting to know someone also requires a lot of effort, energy and time.
“Okay but same I feel him. It’s hard to date; it’s so much work and time and trust,” a netizen said on X (formerly Twitter).
“He’s so relatable. I can’t be bothered anymore either and I feel like there’s a lot of people feeling like that nowadays,” another social media user said.
A Filipino netizen, on the other hand, said, “Sa sobrang tagal na niya ata naging single nakalimutan na niya paano mag date. Katamad rin talaga kasi.”
“Lee Dong Wook is me. Me is Lee Dong Wook,” another fan commented. “Kaya pala kras na kras ko ‘to siya eh, same kami ng katamaran sa buhay.”
A social media user said she would rather choose to be an enthusiastic fan of someone than to pursue romance.
“Maging fan girl nalang habang buhay,” she said.
Previous relationship
In 2018, Lee became the talk of the town when he was confirmed to be dating singer-actress Bae Suzy.
Four months after they went public with their relationship, the two celebrities decided to part ways because of their busy schedules.
In a 2023 interview with The Korea Times, Lee shared how he has gotten comfortable with his single life, as he talked about the similarities between him and Park Young-ho, his character in the 2023 romance film “Single in Seoul.”
“Dating is about sharing my time, space and feelings. And I find myself wanting to share these with someone else, but at the same time, I also feel comfortable by myself despite being lonely,” he stressed.
According to the actor, he still wants to get married but said it might not “happen anytime soon.”
