FOLLOWING their recent acquittal, drag artist Pura Luka Vega took to Instagram to express their relief and gratitude, declaring “Nanaig ang hustisya” in a post dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community.
The Manila Regional Trial Court had earlier cleared them of criminal charges over their viral “Ama Namin” drag performance.
The Manila Regional Trial Court earlier cleared them of criminal charges, particularly for allegedly violating Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code—which penalizes obscene or indecent content—in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Pura, who uses they/them pronouns, took to Instagram via Rainbow Rights Philippines, where they serve as an Advocacy Officer, to release their official statement.
They also thanked the people who helped their cause, including their legal team and the ones who supported them financially during their legal battle.
“Lahat ng binigay niyong tulong ay lubos naming pinahahalagahan,” they said.
