MUPH 2025 Charity Gala: Celebrating Purpose & Culture

by Jamie Navarro

An evening dedicated to vision, purpose, and cultural pride.

The Miss Universe 2025 Charity Gala Night and National Costume Showcase took place on April 30, 2025 at The Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila. The night was honored by the presence of Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjaer Theilvig together with the Continental Queens: Miss Universe Africa and Oceania Chidimma Adetshina, Miss Universe Americas Tatiana Calmell, Miss Universe Europe and Middle East Matilda Wirtavuori, and the Philippines’ very own Miss Universe Asia Chelsea Manalo. Completing the table of Queens is Anne Jakrajutatip, Founder and CEO of JKN Global and owner of the Miss Universe Organization.

Opening up the Charity Gala are Miss Universe Philippines President and CEO Jonas Gaffud, and Director Voltaire Tayag. The newly appointed Chairperson of the Charity Gala Night of MUPH 2025 is none other than Republicasia’s Founder and CEO, Bran Reluao. Each took the stage to reaffirm what Miss Universe represents, sharing its ongoing vision and mission for the nation— and its commitment to bringing that message to the world.

Bran Reluao echoed what the pageant represents: “The Miss Universe Organization Philippines has always stood for something greater than the crown. It’s about voices that break barriers, hearts that heal, and dreams that build futures.”

At the heart of the show

At the heart of this charity gala is the partnership of Miss Universe Philippines, and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide, with Caritas Manila to support various programs. One of the programs is the Youth Servant and Education Program (YSLEP). The young students from the program held microphones as they shared the audience with a performance where they sang a medley of songs from the Greatest Showman musical movie.

As chairperson of the Charity Gala Night, Bran Reluao welcomed the foundations that this night stood for:

For Caritas Manila, who stand with the poor and overlooked—helping children finish school, rebuilding broken lives, and giving hope where there was none. For Stairway Foundation Inc., who protect the most vulnerable—children rescued from abuse and exploitation, sheltered and loved in Puerto Galera. For My Children’s House of Hope, who provide care, dignity, and belonging for children with disabilities. These are not just names. These are lifelines. And tonight, we become part of their story—a better chapter, a brighter one.”

He ended his message with a reminder of what the crown symbolizes: “pageantry is not just about crowns and gowns, it’s about compassion, it’s about visibility.

As the Charity Gala Night concluded, the Miss Universe 2025 National Costume Showcase commenced. Following the evening gown and swimwear segment held last April 28, the National Costume showcase served as the final event of the preliminaries. Each contestant presented the story behind her ensemble— narratives rooted in Filipino folklore and myth, proudly highlighting the unique heritage of their hometowns. There were costumes with the stories of Mt. Makiling, the White Lady of Balete Drive, Maganda at Malakas, and Ibong Adarna to name a few.

The night concluded with all 66 contestants strutting Filipino culture and pride.
