WHAT do you usually do the moment you wake up? A morning routine can set your day up if you spend your first hour doing something productive and essential for you. It can enhance your overall well-being and provide positive vibes ahead.
Doomscrolling, or scrolling through your phone too much, especially the moment you wake up can contribute to a lot of negative effects, such as mental fatigue, and reduce the time to do something productive.
You really have to discipline yourself in order to make healthy choices. Committing to your actions, even though it’s hard, is the biggest step you can take. Here’s what you can do to have an ideal morning routine to set your day right:
Put down your phone
According to Alisa Bowman, the author of Doomscrolling: Stop the scroll, protect your mental health, doomscrolling will waste your time as you surf from one outrageous story to another, all the while feeling worse about the world, the people in it, and your ability to cope.
Do not rely your day on social media. Explore and do something that will add up to your day. Social media is the biggest killer of happiness. Look outside and watch the birds, take a walk, or read a book the moment you wake up. There is more to life than being on social media. Out there, you just have to figure it out and help yourself.
Write what your plan is
Writing your goals, whether they be long-term or short-term, magnetizes your mind to take action toward those goals. Imagine yourself waking up and writing on your paper the goal you want to achieve, it kicks your motivation and gives you a sense of direction.
Training your mind to write will not just improve your focus and productivity, it will also train your mind to have self-discipline and improve your mental health.
Take a bath
Taking a bath will not just refresh your body, it will also wake your mind up and jumpstart your day. Morning showers just hit differently, especially cold ones. Taking a shower the moment you wake up is a perfect way to stimulate your creative thinking.
Establishing a morning routine will benefit you in the long run. It will affect not only your day but your future. Your life consists of your days, be wise about how you will spend each one. How about you? What’s your usual morning routine?
If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning.
And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.
