CELEBRATING the Day of Hearts can be hard for those people who currently don’t have their other half on their side.
Whenever we hear the date February 14, oftentimes we associate that day that is only meant with those who have a date. Because of this, we tend to forget that Valentines Day isn’t just limited to something that we come to describe as romantic.
A simple word with a broad meaning; the word love can mean a lot of things–not just through the means of romance but also through family, friends, and pretty much someone to those who are close to you.
Whenever we give out love, we tend to give it out to those who we care about. Through this, we would come to give some of our time to spend with them, find ways to do something for them, and be patient with them while making them feel safe and secure.
Through the means of love, there are times when we tend to give it all to that one special someone (or people), and by giving it all, we sometimes forget that we also need to save some love for ourselves.
While the idea of going through the day of Valentines can be hard when you’re celebrating it alone can be heartbreaking; it shouldn’t mean that we cannot celebrate it by ourselves. And with Valentine’s day approaching here are some ways on how you can treat yourself.
Unplug and unwind
When was the last time you found time to relax yourself? While getting massages from a spa or a facial is a nice way to have your body relaxed, were you able to apply the same type of care on your wellbeing?
Sometimes taking a break from any unnecessary distractions can be a perfect way to unplug and unwind as through this, you are giving yourself the space to be present in the moment as well with peace of mind.
A little solitude can feel refreshing from time to time as it gives us the time to reconnect with ourselves. It helps us charge emotionally, recharge our social batteries, and overall restore our bodies from the stress and negativities that come to surround us.
Aside from recharging, a time for unwinding can also help a lot when it comes to self-growth. Unwinding is a great opportunity for where one can reflect their goals and set positive intentions for their intentions.
Buy yourself flowers
Flowers became one of the most common gifts to be given during Valentine’s mostly as a romantic gesture that evokes the feeling of happiness, gratitude, and love to those who get to receive it.
One of the things that happens during Valentine’s Day is getting and receiving flowers.
When you happen to be someone who’s celebrating Valentine’s Day alone, you can treat yourself by buying yourself flowers.
Surprisingly, flowers can lift up your mood while acting as a form of self-love. It sends a message that you deserve something beautiful, even if it’s just for yourself.
If flowers happen to be not your thing, you can instead spoil yourself by buying a gift that you’ll truly enjoy.
Share the love
Doesn’t mean that you still haven’t found your other half this Valentine’s day means that you’ll have to celebrate Valentine’s Day alone.
Most of the time, we often associate Valentine’s as a day that can only be celebrated amongst couples—forgetting that the definition of the day of hearts can also be expanded with celebrating it with your family, friends, and loved ones.
Share your love with your loved ones; plan a galentines with your friends because in the end of the day, the world didn’t stop when you don’t have a significant other to celebrate Valentines day with.
The idea of treating and loving yourself shouldn’t just be done during the Valentine’s Day. In the end of the day, it will only be you who will stick by on the end so it is important to come in peace and love yourself as you go on with your life.
