The way we find, show, and express love has evolved in the digital age or what we also call the Information Era. New information is delivered at the speed of light, new technologies are born almost everyday. And when it comes to love, it’s no different. Chat and message applications are no stranger to any of the generations. Dating apps and dating sites have made connections easier. It has created a way to build all kinds of relationships that go with the flow of the fast-paced world. This way may be labeled as unconventional and sometimes inauthentic, but who are we to say what is unreal when it’s not even ours to begin with. This #ModernLove campaign, we focus on love that is unconventional but real nonetheless.
We invited Joelle Yuvienco and Lenard Santos, a couple who found each other online. They matched twice on Bumble during the pandemic, and despite the challenges of lockdown restrictions, it didn’t stop them from staying connected through messages and video calls. They have created a virtual bond and eventually met in person. By April 2024, they tied the knot.
Joelle & Leni, a love unscripted
The pair visited the Republicasia studio to share their story starting from an online dating app match to everyday life together. In our first interview with them we focused on how they found each other and strengthened their relationship with a vow at the altar.
Once we learned about their opinions about dating apps, their love story and what started it all, we wanted to put a spotlight on their everyday dynamic, a sneak peak into the continuation of their love story outside the label of a Bumble success story. To catch an unfiltered version of Joelle and Lenard— behind that label, we played a quick game called “What Would I Do?”.We asked them everyday scenarios that may have already happened or not to see if their answers match as well as to showcase their personalities even more
