MISS USA 2023 Noelia Voigt and Miss Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava resigned, shocking the pageant community.
In an Instagram post, Miss USA Noelia Voigt said “I realize this may come as a large shock to many. Never compromise your physical and mental well-being. Our health is our wealth.”
Miss USA Noelia Voigt expressed her gratitude for the support she received and is now welcoming the new chapter ahead. She also hopes that people will stick with her throughout.
Meanwhile, Miss Teen USA UmaSofia Srivastava stepped down due to her personal values, two days after Miss USA Noelia Voigt resigned.
In her statement on Instagram, Miss Teen USA stated “After months of grappling with this decision, I have made the choice to resign from the title of Miss Teen USA 2023…I’ve decided to resign as I find that my personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organization.”
After holding the title for less than eight months, the author of multilingual children’s book “The White Jaguar,” Miss Teen USA will continue her advocacy, as it has always been her “true purpose.”
The Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants both respect and support the decisions of Noelia and UmaSofia, prioritizing the well-being of the titleholders.
The Miss USA pageant has now named the new 2023 title holder, Miss Hawaii USA Savannah Gankiewicz, who will be officially crowned next week, May 15, in her home state.
Gankiewicz fully accepts the title and supports the former Miss USA title holder.
“Please know that my decision to accept the Miss USA crown was not one that was made lightly. I stand with Noelia and admire her strength to step down and prioritize her mental health,” she wrote.
