MISS Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee donated her Universe Voice for Change award to the Autism Society of the Philippines (ASP).
“It was my privilege to (finally) present the Voice For Change award to @autismphils after our nationwide upward battle to win this special award. Alam natin yan 🥲❤️🔥 #wmmmo.” Michelle wrote in the caption.
On an Instagram reel, the beauty queen shared a snippet of the Artismo event featuring artists in the spectrum–creating art pieces that are later put on sale. In the reel, Michelle was seen handing a ₱684,000 check to the organization.
The program was in line with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals for Economic Empowerment for individuals in the autism spectrum.
According to Michelle, during her time at the VFC presentation, they have employed and provided training to over 300+ individuals and believe that the number can exponentially grow.
The ‘Voice for Change’ prize was awarded to the three gold medal winners and their chosen charity. The prize also included the sum of $12,000 cash.
In mid-September, Michelle stated on her Instagram broadcast channel that she is still waiting for her award to be released.
In the Miss Universe 2023 competition, Michelle advocated for autism awareness. Adding to this was her winning national costume that has special details dedicated to her two brothers in the autism spectrum.
