FOR the fourth consecutive year, a reigning Miss Universe is visiting the Philippines, with 2024 winner Victoria Kjær Theilvig set to arrive in Manila today, March 25.
At midnight (Philippine Standard time), the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) posted the announcement on their Instagram post.
“Where warm hearts meet beautiful islands, and memories are made. Philippines, are you ready?” captioned the post, showing a photo of the Danish beauty queen, with the Philippine flag in the background.
Further details about Theilvig visit have not been revealed but according to the post, she will remain in the country until March 30.
Victoria appears to be on a tour, now making stops in Asia. Her visit to the Philippines comes after a seven-day trip to India.
Theilvig was crowned Miss Universe 2024 on November 16, 2024, in Mexico City, Mexico. She competed against contestants from a record 125 countries and territories, surpassing the previous record of 94 entrants set in 2018.
Her visit continues a tradition of reigning Miss Universe coming to the Philippines.
In 2022, Miss Universe 2021— Harnaaz Sandhu from India— also visited the country for a series of charitable events and to engage with Filipino fans.
In 2023, R’Bonney Gabriel, the first Filipino-American to win Miss Universe (2022), visited the Philippines for a homecoming of sorts, celebrating her heritage and engaging in various cultural activities.
And although Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua wasn’t able to attend last year’s pageant coronation, she also visited the Philippines ahead of the finale and was welcomed warmly. Her visit also earned the country the distinction of “Best Host Tour Country” from the international organization.
