EMBATTLED Bamban Mayor Alice Guo expressed hope in finding her biological mother, who she claims is a Filipino citizen.
For weeks, the identity of Bamban mayor Alice Guo of Tarlac province had been the talk among citizens and in the Philippine government for her vague past records.
The issue around Guo’s real identity began when her name became linked to the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in March, following suspected illegal activities such as human trafficking and illegal human detention.
A registered vehicle and an electrical bill that was found in the scene had linked the name of the mayor.
Guo’s alleged involvement with the POGO hub sparked a hearing in the Senate where senators Risa Hontiveros and Win Gatchalian put her identity into question.
In an exclusive interview with ANC this morning, Guo claimed that she didn’t talk about her childhood or her mother in the Senate hearing because it was painful for her to disclose that she was abandoned by her mother, who was working as a house helper.

She said in the interview that she could not say it on-cam as she didn’t want to be judged. “Ayoko pong ma-judge po ako ng tao, at lalong lalo na po, ayokong sabihin sa akin ng tao, ah anak ‘yan ng katulong. Ayoko po ‘yun.” she said.
Despite what happened, she said that she was thankful that she got to have a chance to talk about it as it helped her to forgive her mother.
Ever since she was elected mayor of Bamban, Guo said she started searching for her mother. She also shared that after the interview, Guo wants to see her mother once again.
“Pero after this po, gusto ko siya makita. Gusto ko makita sa mata niya, na sabihin po niya sa akin, mahal niya ako.” she said.
Despite being angry at her mother for abandoning her, she talked about how it could be a blessing in disguise.
“Iniwanan man niya ako, 38 years ago, siguro po para sa ikakabuti po, para sa aking future. Pero ngayon po gusto ko po maramdaman at makasama man lang ang aking sariling biological mother,” she said.
In the same interview, Guo said that her biological mother was a Filipino while admitting that her father holds a Chinese passport. The mayor maintained that she’s a Filipino and she holds a Philippine passport.
