Manila unveils Anne Curtis’ Madame Tussauds wax statue

by Deanna Macaranas

“IT’S SHOWTIME,” host Anne Curtis’ Madame Tussauds wax statue was unveiled at an event in Makati City last Wednesday.

The wax figure captures the features of the award-winning actress—from freckles, to the way she smiles, all the way down to her moles.

The figure is clothed in an elegant cream Dior gown that’s been donated by the actress as well as silver jewelry.

She previously wore the outfit at the Tiffany & Co. event, marking her comeback in the fashion industry.

The wax figure is to be transferred at the Madame Tussauds museum at The Peak in Hong Kong, making Anne Curtis to be the first-ever Filipino actress and host to be displayed at the museum.

During the wax figure reveal, Anne voiced how she felt like a microphone has been such a powerful tool in her 27 years in the industry.

“And whether it be hosting, giving a speech as a UNICEF ambassador, doing my spiels as a TV host on ‘Showtime,’ or even doing concerts in the Araneta Coliseum, it has been such a powerful tool for me, so I felt like this really should be part of my wax figure.” she said.

Anne Curtis proceeded to add that she wanted  something that would be timeless and elegant–something that would speak with how she likes to dress personally.

“So we went with something that I felt was an iconic moment for me,” Anne said.

She is looking forward to Filipinos visiting Hong Kong.

“I know it’s been a long-time running joke of like, umuwi ang ating mga kababayan tuwing birthday ko. Ngayon, you don’t have to worry about coming home for my birthday, because you can now visit me at Madame Tussauds in Hong Kong.”

Adding to that, Anne Curtis added on how the wax figure is a way for Filipinos to introduce themselves worldwide.

“Whether it be sports, beauty pageants, fashion shows, acting–now is the time for Filipinos,” Anne said.

“It’s about time that we do make a name for ourselves as Filipinos on a worldwide stage,” she added.

She then said that she is grateful and honored to have a wax figure of herself.

Starting December 9, the figure will be available for viewing at the Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

Aside from Anne Curtis, other Filipino artists that have their own wax figures are Manny Pacquiao, Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, and Lea Salonga.
