Malaysian YouTuber “Uncle Roger” sets Guiness World Record

MALAYSIAN YouTuber Nigel Ng, whose famously known as “Uncle Roger” sets a Guinness World Record for largest assembly of people dressed like him on September 14. 

388 people wearing his famous orange polo shirt and cheering his catchphrase, “Fuiyoh!” attended the record-breaking event.  

The event was lined with the grand opening of the YouTuber’s restaurant at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur called FUIYOH–located near a shopping mall near Bukit Bintang in Malaysia.

The 33-year-old took on Instagram expressing on how his milestone became a reality.  

“Never in my life would I expect this to be a reality. 4 years ago I was just a comedian making silly videos in my apartment. And now I have a fried rice restaurant that’s going to get roasted by everyone HAIYAAA.” 

FUIYOH offers various versions of fried rice that costs 16 to 18 ringgit (P208.12 – P234.14). Aside from fried rice, side dishes such as gyoza, fries, and pickle cucumber is also available on the menu.  

Ng became famous in 2020 after positing a reaction video on BBC Food Lesson: How to make friend rice. As of writing, the video gained 38 million views and 1.1 million likes on YouTube. 

Ng plays the role of Uncle Roger who is stereotyped to be a middle-aged Asian uncle who criticizing people’s cookings.
