Ma! I don’t want to grow up

Ma! I don’t want to grow up

by RepublicAsia

TIME flies fast, especially when transitioning into adulthood or when you’re already an adult.

It feels as though your childhood spent playing eagerly with neighbors and resisting siestas was only yesterday, but now, there is a yearning for those simple times.

Growing up has a responsibility tagged onto it that people cannot escape; it is a reality that everyone must deal with as each day passes.

It is a way to discover life and the reality behind it, to see the beauty and, at the same time, the cruelty of its living things. People often experience crises upon realizing that life can either test your patience or bring joy.

Either way, life will push you toward the future, never backward. Considering that everything happens so fast nowadays, it’s better not to waste it on things you’re gonna regret later on.

People should be reminded that you can’t grow when things are easy because nothing worth having comes right away; you’re gonna have to grow and earn it one way or another.

It’s okay to be a kid at times; heal your inner child now

Healing the inner child has recently become a trend among Zoomers. This concept is frequently seen on the internet, with adults engaging in or playing childhood activities, and is something that should be normalized.

After all, being an adult does not necessarily mean being limited to only “mature” activities.

Sometimes, individuals who heal their inner child are those who were once restricted from enjoying childhood activities. These individuals worked hard early in life which led to limitations on what they could do as children.

Healing the inner self or younger self is like finally finding the missing piece in a puzzle: it is an incomparable feeling to experience what life used to be like when there was a fear of missing every opportunity.

Along with this feeling often comes a sudden wish to have never grown up and to have stayed a child, as life seemed more enjoyable with fewer worries.

Healing your inner child does not necessarily involve spending or splurging a lot of money unless you’re capable of doing so. Simple acts such as dining at your favorite restaurant, buying toys, visiting parks, and playing games can also be a way to enjoy. These activities can lead to happiness and help fill the gaps left by past experiences.

Life might indeed seem better when you’re young and carefree, as there is no sense of being drained or feeling empty.

Cheers to youth, it’s your first time living after all

Remember: wanting to find a reason to smile every day is just as normal as worrying about what tomorrow might bring.

Growing up can be something many people fear. Through the negativities being thrown at you each day, you might not like the idea of growing up because it makes you hate who you are today.

But hey! Getting up from your bed with lots of fear and anxiousness surrounding you, and choosing to face it, is something to be proud of. Not everyone is capable of doing that, so please don’t hate yourself too much. Life has so much to offer, and in order to witness what life is capable of, live on a little longer.

This is a reminder that while growing up, you can still be a kid and heal whatever was once shattered. It is always possible to return to what has kept you alive and motivated.

Remember that when a piece of you is healed, a sense of fulfillment emerges, which helps propel you forward.
