Lorde to make music comeback 4 years after her last album

by Joanna Deala

LORDE surprised her fans with a new video on her official TikTok account. But this was not just any life update from the singer-songwriter—it was a teaser for her forthcoming song.

The 15-second clip showed Lorde strolling the streets in her white long-sleeved polo and jeans with her headphones on. Her background music was titled “WWT,” which several netizens guessed to be the title of her new song.

A part of the song’s lyrics from the video goes: “Since I was 17, I gave you everything / Now we wake from a dream / Well baby, what was that?”

As of writing, this was the only video posted on her TikTok account. She wiped her other social media accounts including Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

Lorde’s TikTok video has now garnered over 23 million views, with many calling her music comeback “Lorde Summer.”

Among those who look forward to her new song is “greedy” singer Tate McRae.

“Omg,” the Canadian singer-songwriter commented.

Children’s author Greg James, meanwhile, said, “The Lorde has risen just in time for Easter.”

This comes four years after Lorde released her third studio album, “Solar Power,” containing 12 tracks. Its deluxe version had 14 tracks.

In 2024, Lorde dropped a cover of “Take Me to the River” as part of the Talking Heads tribute album.

About Lorde

Lorde, 28, signed with Universal Music Group in 2009, after gaining attention for her talent show performance.

She released her debut extended play (EP), “The Love Club EP,” in 2013, featuring her chart-topping song, “Royals.” In the music streaming platform Spotify alone, the hit track has over a billion streams.

“Royals” won her multiple nominations and awards, including two GRAMMY awards (Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance) at the 56th ceremony.

In 2014, she was commissioned to curate the soundtrack for the dystopian action film “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1,” with “Yellow Flicker Beat” being the first single to be released.

It was in the same year when Lorde won her first International Female Solo Artist award from the Brit Awards. She bagged the same title from the annual music awards in 2018.
