LIZA Soberano has officially announced her break up with Enrique Gil, putting an end to years of speculation about the status of LizQuen, one of the country’s most popular love teams.
The actress’ revelation took place during the August 14 episode of Can I Come In?, a series hosted by Sarah Bahba.
In it, she confirmed that Enrique and her were broken up for three years already.
“I’ve been honestly itching to tell people this because I haven’t been very truthful. Quen hasn’t been very truthful. Quen and I broke up,” said Liza.
“But yeah, we’ve been broken up for almost three years now,” she added.
According to Liza, Enrique initially requested to “not say anything about it first.”
“I don’t want to speak for him, but I think it was coming from a place of not wanting it to be real. And at the same time, you know, I agreed to that because I also didn’t want it to be real,” she explained.
Aside from that, Liza said that she was hesitant to announce the break up as it might affect her career.
“My career would go bad or you know, people just wouldn’t love me anymore,” she said.
The actress said she had felt unhappy in the relationship a year before the breakup but avoided addressing the problems. In fact, she was already thinking of marrying Enrique.
“I was like mentally telling myself this thing because we were already at the point, almost 8 years together and I was genuinely expecting us to get married, like, soon but that didn’t happen,” said Liza.
“When I broke up with him, I would say that it was such a beautiful breakup because it was still full of love.”
She said that she considers Enrique as a childhood best friend. She stressed that Enrique “didn’t do anything wrong” and that “nothing bad happened,” adding that their split was amicable and simply due to them no longer being a match.
Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, known as LizQuen, began dating in 2014 and went public in 2019, starring together in several hit projects like Forevermore, Dolce Amore, and Alone Together.
Rumored to have split in 2022, Liza has since pursued an international career, debuting in Lisa Frankenstein and appearing in global projects and events.
