THE Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) revealed the list of nominees for the 73rd edition of its awards ceremony, recognizing the outstanding performances of local stars from several critically acclaimed Filipino films from the past.
The 2025 nominees were revealed on Sunday, August 10, with the 2024 prison drama film “Green Bones” and the 2024 biographical film “Mamay” earning 10 nominations each.
An official entry to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), “Green Bones” follows a prison guard named Xavier Gonzaga who opposes the release of Domingo Zamora, a person deprived of liberty accused of crimes he did not commit.
Meanwhile, “Mamay” narrates the life story of Mayor Marcos Mamay of Nunungan town, particularly his journey to achieving his dreams despite the challenges caused by poverty.
Established in 1952, FAMAS is the oldest existing film industry award-giving body in the country, which recognizes achievements in Philippine cinema for a calendar year.
The 73rd FAMAS awards will be held on August 22 at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel.
