TODAY, April 1, marks the beginning of a new month, which means people bid farewell to some things and welcome new ones.
Among them is a new movie available now, and seasons of several television shows soon to be streamed on Disney+.
‘Mufasa: The Lion King’
First on the list is the 2024 musical drama film “Mufasa: The Lion King,” helmed by Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins.
The film brings back viewers to the origin story of Mufasa, an orphaned cub who becomes the Pride Lands’ greatest king. He teams up with a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline, to defeat The Outsiders led by the daunting white lion named Kiros.
“Mufasa: The Lion King” premiered in Philippine cinemas on December 18. It is now available on the streaming platform.
‘Andor’ Season 2
Actor Diego Luna will also return to the viewers’ small screens, reprising his role as the thief-turned-rebel spy named Cassian Andor in the second season of the science fiction television series “Andor.”
The new season features action-packed scenes as Cassian participates in a war against the Galactic Empire. Part of the “Star Wars” franchise, “Andor” takes place five years before the events of the 2016 film “Rogue One,” a prequel to the 1977 “Star Wars” movie.
The second season of “Andor” will premiere on Disney+ on April 23.
‘Doctor Who’ Season 2
The Doctor (played by actor Ncuti Gatwa) will also return to the small screen, this time, with a new companion named Belinda Chandra (portrayed by Varada Sethu).
The new season of “Doctor Who” shows The Doctor and Belinda embarking on an epic mission to bring Belinda back to Earth. However, their journey is hindered by a mysterious force, pushing the Doctor to deal with “greater dangers, powerful enemies, and unimaginable terrors.”
The second season of “Doctor Who” will begin streaming on April 12.
‘Go! Go! Loser Ranger!’ Part 2
Rogue monster Fighter D continues to serve justice in the second season of the Japanese anime series “Go! Go! Loser Ranger!” as he uncovers the truth behind the carefully crafted image of the Divine Dragon Rangers. Fighter D challenges those in power and shows what a true hero is like.
“Go! Go! Loser Ranger!” is produced by Japanese animation studio Yostar Pictures, whose works include contributions to “The Boy and the Heron,” “Demon Slayer,” and “Jujutsu Kaisen.”
The anime series’ new season will premiere on April 13.
‘Dying For Sex’
Last but not least is the television mini series “Dying For Sex,” centering on a woman diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She leaves her husband for 15 years to embark on a journey of self-discovery.
This comedy-drama series touches on themes of love, intimacy, freedom, and purpose.
“Dying For Sex” will be available on April 4.
