VIEWERS will see South Korean actor Lee Jong Suk in his “lawyer era” again as he returns to their screens through his latest series, “Law and The City.”

Streaming service Disney+ announced that this new Korean legal drama—written by Lee Seunghyeon, a practicing lawyer, and directed by Park Seungwoo, who helmed “Adamas” and “Kairos”—will premiere on its platform on July 5.

A 12-part series, “Law and The City” revolves around the lives of “overworked and underappreciated legal professionals” in Seoul.

It follows a ninth-year associate Ahn Juhyeong, played by Lee, a competent lawyer who has mastered his craft but is too comfortable to further his legal career.

Tired of fighting for clients who do not have the same moral principles as him, Juhyeong will be reminded of what he used to aspire to when he meets a bright and ambitious newly qualified lawyer named Kang Huiji, played by Mun Ka Young.

Lee and Mun will be joined by Kang You-seok, who portrayed Um Jaeil in “Resident Playbook,” and Ryu Hye-young, best known for her roles as Sung Bora and Kang Sol A in hit K-dramas “Reply 1988” and “Law School,” respectively.

Produced by CJ ENM Studios, “Law and The City” is one of the forthcoming Korean content to be available on Disney+.

The platform has released a 20-second teaser trailer for the series, featuring the main cast eating at a restaurant. A voice could be heard saying, “Life’s not so hard when you’re eating with friends.”

Return to small screen

“Law and The City” is Lee’s first K-drama in almost three years. It comes after his 2022 legal drama “Big Mouth,” where he starred alongside Im Yoon-ah.

“Big Mouth” is also available on Disney+.

Lee is one of the widely recognized Korean actors today, starring in several hit dramas like “I Can Hear Your Voice,” “Pinocchio,” “W,” “While You Were Sleeping,” and “Romance Is a Bonus Book” to name a few.

He last visited the Philippines in April 2023 for an intimate fan meeting at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

Meanwhile, “Law and The City” is Mun’s second Korean drama this year, following the romantic-comedy series “My Dearest Nemesis.”
