THE 2024 Summer Olympics are drawing near, and commitment rumors are heating up, with a couple of NBA stars already expressing interest in playing for Team USA in Paris next summer.
LeBron James confirmed in September his desire to represent Team USA once again. He was said to be inviting the help of a few American NBA stars.
Since then, several players from James’ rumored list or prospects have already declared their intent to compete in the Paris Games during the league’s ongoing media day.
LeBron James
The King has somehow confirmed his support for their national team. On an X post, Rachel Nichols reported this.
LeBron on whether he has his interest in playing the Olympics next summer: “Yeah I do. I do have interest.” Says he’d have to evaluate the physical toll, but given the roster Team USA can put together, “I wouldn’t have to do a lot.”

After a long season of NBA action, James understands the importance of assessing his body. “Physical toll? I’lI see how I feel at the end of the season,” he remarked.
The King is certain that he will not have to do much for the squad.
“From the players that we have here off the top of my head that could fill that roster up, I don’t think it would be too much of a physical toll,” James stated.
“I wouldn’t have to do much. Rebound a little bit, pass a little bit, defend, block some shots, you know? But we’ll see. We’ll see what happens,” he continued.
Stephen Curry
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has also stated his desire to compete in the Olympics under his Warriors coach.

“I talked to some people about the opportunity and definitely if all things stay the same I want to be playing,” Curry said during an interview at NBA Media Day.
Curry has yet to win an Olympic gold medal, and he sees the Paris Games as a strong opportunity to do so.
“It’s the one thing I haven’t done. I also understand the opportunity for Team USA to kind of reassert themselves as the dominant in the world and that type of stuff.”
“So definitely want to be there, and definitely want to be on the team and hopefully things line up that way where we’re all good,” he said.
Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns has stated unequivocally that he will represent Team USA in Paris next year.
“I will play in the Olympics next year,” Durant declared on October 2 at Phoenix’s media day.

Durant, who just turned 35, has been a member of Team USA’s last three Olympic teams, winning gold each time. During the Tokyo Games in 2021, he topped the US squad in scoring.
If the team wins next year, Durant will become the first American to possess four basketball gold medals.
Anthony Davis, James’ friend, has yet to decide whether or not to participate for Team USA. “If they ask me, I’m in,” Lakers power forward Davis said of his potential role on the USA roster.
Several stars have expressed interest in joining Team USA during Monday’s NBA Media Day.
Bam Adebayo, DeMar DeRozan, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Donovan Mitchell, Khris Middleton, Julius Randle, Zach LaVine, Aaron Gordon, Fred VanVleet, and Brook Lopez are among others who have been named.
A group of NBA stars from the United States would surely help Team USA win another Olympic gold medal. It would be exciting to see these stars don their national team jerseys again.
