KimXi, officially broken up

by Gaby Agbulos

PEOPLE have been speculating for quite some time that the popular love team of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim – otherwise known as ‘KimXi’ – have broken up.

These speculations started to rise when people started seeing the couple together less and less.

Back in November, when asked during a press conference whether or not they were still dating, Chiu said: “Okay naman po kami ni Xi. Mapanlinlang lang ang showbiz, pero maayos naman [kami.] Masaya naman po [kami.]

Lim, on the other hand, didn’t directly confirm or deny the rumors, though he did post on Instagram at the time telling fans not to believe in hearsay and deceiving headlines.

Sadly, as of December 23, Chiu and Lim have finally confirmed the breakup rumors.

Chiu posted a long, heartfelt message to her supporters, as well as to Lim himself. Almost simultaneously, Lim also posted a message to his Instagram with regard to their relationship.

Chiu and Lim’s messages

Chiu starts her post by saying that they have reached the end of their love story and that while love is significant in any relationship, it isn’t always enough.

“We shared more than a decade of love, each support system, and many beautiful memories,” she wrote.

“It was our mutual decision to transition our relationship into what we hope to be a lifelong friendship. We thank all our followers for their love and support, but now we ask you to appreciate our honesty and give us the privacy we need as we begin new chapters of our lives.”

For Lim, she wrote: “Thank you for the almost 12 years of beautiful memories together one can never imagine. You will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for showing me what love is.”

She finished her post by asking for kindness and respect from anyone who would be able to read her post and hoped that in her words, people would find clarity in their situation and finally be able to move on from this chapter of their lives.

Lim’s message, on the other hand, is entirely directed toward Chiu.

“Dearest Kim, thank you for the long years we have spent loving each other,” he writes.

“The 12 years of my life with you was the best gift I could ever ask for. We have expressed our love for each other to the fullest and knowing that I got to share those moment[s] with you, knowing our hearts beat as one at one point in our lives is truly something I will cherish for life.”

He continues to say that he is grateful for the moments that they have shared together, as well as the unconditional love they have given one another. He reassures Chiu that he will forever respect and admire her as an artist regardless of their relationship status, as well.

“I wish that you will find all the happiness and love you are searching for,” he adds.

“You deserve nothing but the best.”

He finishes his post by saying: “No goodbyes here, I’ll see you around Petunia.”

The public’s responses

In Chiu’s post, her friends, family, and fans have shown nothing but love and support for the actress.

“Migaaaa love you kaayo huuuuug!!” writes actress Chie Filomeno.

“Much respect to the both of you,” says singer Gary Valenciano.

It’s Showtime co-star Ryan Bang also shows his support, offering hugs toward the actress, alongside a handful of other people.

Lim, on the other hand, has turned off the comments for his post and has changed the settings so that only he can see the number of people who have liked it.

While many on the internet have shown sadness over their breakup, they ultimately understand the decision and hope that both will heal in time.

The couple were together for 12 years before calling it quits, falling in love on the set of the teleserye “My Binondo Girl.”
