ACTRESS-HOST Kim Chiu emerged as a winner anew for the 2024 edition of “Magpasikat” segment of the noontime variety show “It’s Showtime,” this time, with Ogie Alcasid, Lassy, and MC as her teammates.
“Magpasikat” is the show’s week-long anniversary special where hosts battle with each other using their exceptional talents while delivering timely and powerful messages to viewers.
“It’s Showtime” celebrated its 15th anniversary with another series of extraordinary performances from the show’s hosts. However, it was Kim’s team—also known as the “Fourtastic Combo”—that took home the “Magpasikat Champion” title and a cash prize worth P300,000.
Team Ogie, Kim, MC, and Lassy turned emotional and hugged each other onstage when they were announced as winners by ABS-CBN’s Chief Operating Officer for Broadcast Cory Vidanes.
The hosts announced that their prize money will be donated to the non-government organization Angat Buhay for their relief efforts to help victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
“Yung mapapanalunan namin, hindi pa man namin alam yung nangyari sa Kristine PH pero yung charity po talaga namin ay para sa Angat Buhay Foundation,” Kim said. “Malaking tulong po ‘to sa lahat ng mga nasalanta.”
Kristine left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday, displacing over 5.7 million Filipinos, according to the latest situation report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
On Facebook, the Angat Buhay Foundation, which has been assisting affected communities in several areas in Luzon including Naga City and the Bicol Region, thanked the “It’s Showtime” hosts for choosing them as their charity partner.
“Malaking tulong po ito para sa mga nasalanta ng Bagyong #Kristine. Pagbati rin sa pagiging champion ng Magpasikat 2024. Mabuhay kayo!” the organization said.
Meanwhile, the team of Jhong Hilario, Jackie Gonzaga, and Cianne Dominguez finished second, winning a cash prize of P200,000. The team of Anne Curtis, Jugs Jugueta, and Teddy Corpuz was named third runner-up, taking home a cash prize of P100,000.
Last year, it was the team of Kim, Jhong, and Ion Perez who was declared the “Magpasikat 2023” grand champion.
Winners’ performances
The “Fourtastic Combo” was the second team to perform for the “Magpasikat 2024” segment, highlighting the importance of resting and prioritizing self-care.
Ogie kicked off his team’s performance with an original song that spoke about the struggles of veteran musicians to keep their fire burning in a modern world where many new and young artists emerge.
It was followed by a skit by MC and Lassy that narrated the challenges of breadwinners who continue to do their jobs despite their problems at home.
Kim, on the other hand, showcased a breathtaking circus-like act, highlighting her struggle to bring something “new” to the table after reaching another milestone in the fast-paced entertainment industry.
Ending their performance, the “Fourtastic Combo” left a reminder for everyone: “Kapag pagod ka na, tigil, hinga, kalma.”
Team Jhong, Jackie, and Cassie advocated for mental health awareness through their “Magpasikat” performance, while Team Anne, Jugs, and Teddy delivered a light-hearted performance highlighting their core memories in the past 15 years with their “It’s Showtime” family.
This year’s “Magpasikat” judges were ABS-CBN’s former president Freddie “FMG” Garcia, Alice Dixson, Donny Pangilinan, and Gabby Garcia.
