Junny adds Manila to ‘Blanc’ concert tour

by Joanna Deala

BRACE yourselves and your pockets, concert-goers! The list of international artists coming to the Philippines for their concerts is getting longer, with South Korean-Canadian singer-songwriter Junny bringing his “Blanc” concert tour to the country.

The “INVITATION” singer said on X (formerly Twitter) that Manila was part of the concert’s Asian leg.

“We starting the new year right,” he wrote.

Junny’s announcement came with a “Blanc” poster, which showed that the Manila show will be on January 24 at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao, Quezon City.

On his Instagram broadcast channel, Junny hoped that his fans would be “excited” by the new tour dates.

“This year is going to be [exploding head emojis],” he wrote.

“Lots more coming, of course with new music,” he continued.

The Philippine leg will be followed by shows in Jakarta, Indonesia, on January 26; and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, on January 28.

The “Blanc” tour kicked off in North America in September 2022, with 11 shows across the United States and Canada. It was followed by more US shows in February 2023 before Junny took the tour to Europe in March 2023, and to Australia and New Zealand in September 2023.

The concert tour supports his latest album “Blanc,” which was released in August 2022.

The album has nine tracks: “mercury,” “Obvious,” “Not About You,” “Color Me (featuring CHUNG HA),” “Mugshot (featuring UNE),” “Get Ya! (featuring pH-1),” “Just a Number,” “boyhood,” and “OH!!”

“Not About You” has an English version that Junny released in December 2022.

In 2023, the 27-year-old singer dropped new songs like “Promise” and “Better Days (featuring THAMA).”

In 2020, Junny took on the “8-bar Relay” challenge on TikTok where participants would have to freestyle to the given eight-bar beat. His version became an instant hit and it racked up over 3 million views on the social media platform.

Many TikTok users asked for a full version, which he granted when he released “INVITATION” in 2023. Junny collaborated with Dynamic Duo’s Gaeko, who also participated in the challenge, for the song.
