FILIPINO-AMERICAN singer Jessica Sanchez has come full circle, returning to America’s Got Talent stage after 20 years.
Appearing in a teaser for the talent show’s 20th season, the Filipino-American singer surprised the judges as she revealed, “I was actually on the very first season of America’s Got Talent.”
Sanchez’s journey began in 2006 when she appeared on AGT’s first season. Although she was eliminated early, she was brought back as a Wild Card by judge Brandy Norwood. Her rendition of I Surrender impressed all three judges, but she did not advance to the finals.
Her career gained momentum in 2012, when she became the runner-up on American Idol Season 11, earning acclaim for her powerful vocals.
Now, the 29-year old singer revisits her roots in AGT, hoping to showcase her growth as a performer.
“Being 10 years old on AGT played such a massive role in me believing in something bigger for myself, for my voice,” she shared on her Instagram account.
Since her Idol success, Sanchez continued to evolve as an artist. In 2013, she expanded her career into acting, landing a guest role on the hit TV show Glee.
In 2023, Jessica Sanchez went viral with her cover of Beyoncé’s Drunk in Love. Later that year, she visited the Philippines to perform at the Miss Universe Philippines coronation night.
In April 2024, she released the single Higher, kicking off a series of monthly releases planned through August.
“What a huge blessing it is to be able to come back and chase after my dreams again after 20 years. Can’t wait to see what God has in store for me,” said Sanchez.
