IN a previous interview with republicasia, actor-singer James Reid spoke about making an acting comeback.
Good news for his fans because he is about to turn this into reality as he gears up for a forthcoming project with Dreamscape Entertainment.
Dreamscape Entertainment, ABS-CBN Studios’ television production and entertainment company, drew excitement from netizens as it uploaded a group photo featuring Reid, several Dreamscape executives, and ABS-CBN COO for broadcast Cory Vidanes on Instagram.
The caption read, “Something to look forward to this 2025!”
More snaps from their meeting were shared in another Instagram post, including a photo of Reid and Vidanes sitting beside and talking with each other.
Nothing much has been revealed yet about the project, including its title, but Reid has been vocal about returning to acting and working with ABS-CBN Network.
During republicasia’s launching of its Future Forward cover for September, Reid told the Gen Z-dominated newsroom that he has “more awesome music” and “some TV projects” to release soon.
When asked about his dream role, Reid said he wants to give life to a musician so he could bring “everything [he] did in music into film.”
Past projects
Reid entered the local show business industry when he participated as a housemate in the Kapamilya network’s popular reality competition television series “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB)” in 2010.
He gained prominence for his lead role in the 2014 romantic comedy film “Diary ng Panget,” where he starred alongside his former reel-to-real partner and half of “JaDine,” Nadine Lustre. He has since topbilled several Filipino romance movies like “Talk Back and You’re Dead,” “Para sa Hopeless Romantic,” “This Time,” and “Never Not Love You.”
His last big-screen project was the 2018 musical comedy film “Miss Granny,” headlined by Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo.
The 31-year-old actor also did several small-screen projects with ABS-CBN, including “On the Wings of Love” in 2015 and “Till I Met You” in 2017, with the latter being his last TV series.
’Sandal’ earns 1-M streams
The “Randomantic” hitmaker has been focusing on his discography after taking time off from acting.
He recently released a new single titled “Sandal,” his first-ever Tagalog song dedicated to his girlfriend, Issa Pressman.
In an Instagram post, Reid announced that “Sandal” has amassed one million streams on digital music service Spotify, thanking listeners for supporting his music.
Reid shared with republicasia that the song is also for those who seek comfort as they go through challenging times.
“The song is very special to me,” he said. “I think it’s one of my favorite songs so far.”
