How to pass your job interview

by Bryan Gadingan

NERVOUS is how most Gen Zs feel as they prepare for their first job interview.

A job interview is certainly one of the most challenging situations a person may find himself in.

Some consider it a make-or-break moment, as you must impress your prospective employer in order to get the job.

Are Gen Zs prepared to ace job interviews? Here are five suggestions from RepublicAsia’s Human Resources Department:

Honesty

Background checks are an essential element of any interview.

This is when an employer learns about your background, whether via former employment or any other situations that piqued their interest.

It is preferable to answer any queries truthfully, as the truth may come out in the long run and might cause you to lose your job.

Avoid repeating what is already in your resume

When an applicant is asked to tell more about themselves, it would be better to elaborate on their school background, work experiences, or interests related to the job.

Showing the company how passionate and dedicated you are to the position you want is preferable to offering the standard answers.

Be confident

When it comes to job interviews, being shy and nervous is common.

However, knowing how to present yourself appropriately in front of your employer is a sign of confidence. This is critical since a lack of confidence might have a negative impact on your chances of landing a job.

Being able to communicate effectively might help persuade the employer that you are the appropriate candidate for the job and are more than ready to start.

Be familiar with the company’s background

Researching the firm not only gives you an idea of what products or services the company offers, but it also gives the appearance that you are interested in joining the company.

This will also enable you to assess what you can and cannot give the organization.

A lack of understanding about the company suggests a lack of strong interest and attention to detail.

Understand the position for which you are applying

The employer will be dissatisfied if you show up to the interview knowing nothing about the job you’re seeking.

It is preferable if you have at least a basic understanding of the position, as this gives the appearance that you are competent and prepared to take on the role.

It is also important to be prepared and not act stiff. This will help create a more natural and relaxed atmosphere during the interview.
