CHRISTMAS marks the season of giving. As such, gifting is one of the ways people mark the holiday, and it’s often done during Christmas parties that have become prevalent in schools and workplaces.
Since exchange-gift activities are held yearly, chances are, despite receiving the gift you wished for, the exchange-gift activity itself may have become dull and boring.
To make exchange-gift sessions a lot more exciting, here’s a list of methods to try to make fun memories with your family, friends, classmates or co-workers.
Secret Santa (Monito Monita)
Secret Santa is traditionally known as “Monito Monita,” and the main element of this game revolves around being anonymous.
Participants must write down a codename on a piece of paper along with the gift they’d like to receive. Once the participants have written their names and their wish lists, the pieces of paper will be mixed in a bag, and participants will draw lots. This will signify who they will be gifting for the exchange gift.
People can play this depending on the theme they have chosen.
Scavenger hunt
Adding mystery to exchange-gift activities does make it more thrilling, and one of the ways to do this is to host a scavenger hunt.
Participants are required to give gender-neutral gifts of the same value. Depending on how you’d like to play it, the gift can be hidden around the room and for them to receive the gift, the participant should be able to solve all the clues.
The game would end once they solve the clues and find their gifts.
Grab bag
If you want the exchange-gift party to be exhilarating for participants while they still have the freedom to choose their gift, the host can do a Grab bag.
Gifts contributed by the participants will be placed inside a bag and everyone will have the chance to pick what they’d like to take by feeling the gift inside the bag.
White elephant
Also known as “Dirty Santa” is a game where each participant brings a wrapped gift at a set price. The catch of this game is that none of the players would know what’s inside until they get to pick it out so there is a high chance of them receiving either a nice or naughty gift.
While it might already sound exciting, it gets even better as players also have the option to steal a gift.
While exchanging gifts remains a highlight of Christmas parties, the fun shouldn’t be limited to this as there are other ways to make the celebration more animated.
You can take this tissue-game challenge as an example:
