Highlights from the Drag Race PH Ep 5 viewing party

by RepublicAsia

THE latest episode of “Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale” becomes a breakthrough for Filipina drag queen Brigiding, as she earns her first RuBadge in the reality competition.

This RepublicAsia team witnessed this milestone as they were invited to the viewing party for the fifth episode of the show at Rampa Drag Club in Quezon City.

As first-time joiners, the Gen Z staff members described the experience as an electrifying night to remember, with a big crowd of drag fans, an energetic atmosphere, and non-stop Filipino drag excellence on stage.

One of the highlights of the viewing party was the jaw-dropping performances from drag queens Eva Le Queen, Brigiding’s drag daughter Zymbading, Viñas Deluxe’s drag daughter Tiny Deluxe, and of course, the iconic Divine Divas, composed of Precious Paula Nicole, Viñas Deluxe, and Brigiding.

Adding to the excitement were familiar faces like Dani Barretto and TikTok affiliate star Jomar Yee, who graced the event.

But the main purpose of the gathering was to watch episode 5 of “Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale” and witness the meaningful full-circle point in Brigiding’s journey as a drag queen, as well as her evolution and strengthened confidence this season.

‘Family Rusemblance’ challenge

In the latest episode, the queens took on the “Family Rusemblance” for their maxi challenge, where they gave overseas Filipino worker (OFW) moms a fierce drag makeover and turned them into their drag families.

This episode hit extra hard not only the drag queens but also viewers emotionally, as some relate to the struggles of the OFWs..

Their discussions centered on the sacrifices they had to make to support their families, including being homesick. This episode is not just about glitz and glamour, but a powerful tribute to the resilience of Filipino families.

Team Brigiding and Suki Doll created an iconic Filipino look inspired by the Philippine flag

“Ang concept ko doon ay flag, yung traditional costume natin, para kung sino man ang magsuot, they will be proud to be a Filipino. Homecoming sa Philippines,” Brigiding shared.

Khianna with a K and Viñas Deluxe teamed up to serve a “Mariah Carey Family Rusemblance,” bringing diva glamour to the runway.

Meanwhile, Team Arizona and Bernie went full drama with an ’80s kontrabida-inspired theme, while Yuhua and Siam showcased a stunning Chinese traditional concept for their drag family.

Brigiding brought home her first RuBadge at the end of the episode, which opened a new chapter in her artistry marked by authenticity and growth.

An inspiration

Her victory highlights the resilience and creativity of the Filipino drag community and shows how powerful these stories can be in inspiring others.

Brigiding hopes to inspire more individuals through the reality competition. In episode 4, she revisited the struggles she faced during her first season and spoke candidly about her journey, adding emotional depth to her return.

“This journey means more to me than just competition. It’s about resilience, reinvention, and staying true to who I am. I’ve always believed that learning is the new winning, and I carry that with me every step of the way,” Brigiding shared.

“As Mother of the House of Ding, I embrace the many forms of love in my life, including chosen family. I hope my story shows that strength can be found in vulnerability, and that drag has the power to heal and inspire,” she continued.
