BLINKS, don’t cry! Many are asking the same question as you.
Where is BLACKPINK now?
While all four band members renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment for their group activities in December last year, the girls did not renew with the agency for their individual activities. The reason was not disclosed but hints from the girl’s solo activities tell exactly why.
The question of “What’s next?” is making Blinks impatient for their return, but say no more!
BLACKPINK is finally back, but only on big screens! The girl group announced on their Instagram page the upcoming showing of their “Born Pink Tour Movie” in Philippine cinemas. The movie is set to appear on SM Cinemas, Ayala Malls Cinemas, and Robinsons Movieworld from July 31 until August 5. Just six days, but six days of seeing them on a big screen is better than nothing, right?
But will that be all? How long should we wait before BLACKPINK returns?
First, why not take a look at how they started out?
Their rise to fame
The group debuted in 2016, and in the following five months, they were already awarded New Artist of the Year at the 31st Golden Disc Awards and the 26th Seoul Music Awards.
Fast forward to now, they’ve made a history of winning hundreds of awards, and let’s not forget their Guinness World Record titles. Brace yourselves as, according to TheStar, the girls hold 21 titles!
The girls’ relationship blossomed into a tight friendship, which must be a huge factor in why the group succeeded in their industry. But also, it was because of each of the members’ dedication to their art capturing the hearts of millions of fans.
While their fans do miss them, it’s important to remember that the girls are human too. They’re allowed to pursue their individual dreams.
A time for individual growth
The girls wanted to explore and experience new, and exciting things beyond the limitations of being in a K-pop group, and all of them going solo was a game-changing scenario.
Before BLACKPINK, there were simply Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. They were once solo artists who had already established their names prior to the group’s debut.
This connotes their capability of going solo once more. As stars in the sky sparkle separately, the girl shall shine on their own as well.
Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa are currently focusing on their crafts, improving their skills while also building their soaring careers.
Jisoo Kim
Jisoo has her own company, which is named “BLISSOO,” alongside her brother. The agency’s official website reads, “JISOO continues to broaden her influence into the realms of fashion, beauty, and beyond.”
The icon is also an ambassador of the big brands Dior and Cartier.
Aside from brand collaborations, Jisoo has also pursued an acting career, debuting in the 2021 drama “Snowdrop.” She will be returning to the screen in the upcoming series “Influenza,” which is set to finish this year. The drama will narrate a terrifying zombie outbreak.
Rosé Park
Rosé has been secretive with her plans for this year. There is also no news of her signing a contract with any agency.
Many are wondering: who will manage her future endeavors?
The star is currently focused on being the ambassador for a variety of brands such as Tiffany & Co. Jewels, who recently launched a capsule collection inspired by the artist, titled “Tiffany Lock Rosé Edition.”
Rosé has been consistently working for her brand deals, such as when she attended Rimowa’s Siet 1898 125th Anniversary Exhibition, where she cut the red ribbon at the event.
Rosé’s schedule is also crammed with big brands, Sulwhasoo skincare, and Saint Laurent fashion.
Jennie Kim
Jennie, on the other hand, has launched a new label, Odd Atelier (OA), which will oversee all her solo projects.
The artist has also made it in Hollywood, debuting in HBO’s “The Idol” with Lily-Rose Depp, which unfortunately was canceled after one season following comments from several critics.
But Jennie’s a fighter! She joined the main star cast of TVN’s Apartment 404, a variety show that gained remarkable ratings after its release on February 23.
She also remains the face of Chanel which opened doors for her Met Gala debut in 2023. Brands Calvin Klein, Jacquemus, and Adidas are also keeping her schedule busy this year.
Lalisa Manoban
Lisa has not yet signed under any agency that will manage her solo career. But as updates of her journey keep filling up, she might be doing just fine. She is the ambassador of huge luxury brands: Bulgari, Celine, Mac and Prada.
Lisa’s a busy woman, all the more so that there are speculations of her being one of the cast for the next season of “The Walking Dead.”
In an article written by Style, the icon was reportedly seen going back and forth between Seoul and Paris, the sets for the series’ next season.
It also added that in November, Lisa was seen with Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus at a Champions League football match. Soon after, the two followed each other on Instagram.
BLACKPINK’s blinks must be so thrilled for their idols’ solo ventures.
So, who’s excited for their comeback? And who’s a little impatient? If you are, ease the pain a bit by watching the upcoming showing of their Born Pink Tour Movie in Philippine cinemas.
As they each try to create their path, their fans will always lay their support, patiently waiting for the group’s return. Their empowering solo ventures will surely make their comeback twice as strong as their success the previous years.
No one knows when, only time will tell.
