Here’s the first look at Lady Gaga’s Rosaline Rotwood in ‘Wednesday’ S2

NETFLIX has amped up the excitement for part two of the second season of its hit mystery-comedy series “Wednesday” by unveiling the first look at its new character: Rosaline Rotwood, portrayed by pop star Lady Gaga.

On Monday, the global streaming platform shared a portrait of the “Abracadabra” singer, clad in an elegant all-white dress with long blonde hair and eyebrows. On her left shoulder sits Thing, a disembodied living hand that is loyal and a confidant to the Addams family.

“A vision in venom,” Netflix said of Gaga’s character.

Not much has been revealed yet about the pop star’s role in “Wednesday, but Netflix Tudum has described Rotwood as a “mysterious and enigmatic” legendary teacher in Nevermore—an eerie institute that houses society’s outcasts—who crosses paths with Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega.

Gaga will appear in the second part of the series’ second season, which will premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, September 3.

Her appearance in “Wednesday” was first announced during the streaming giant’s Tudum fan event at the Kia Forum in May, where she served a “Wednesday”-themed performance featuring her songs “Abracadabra,” “Bloody Mary,” and  “Zombieboy.”

Gaga will be joined by other “Wednesday” cast members: Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Joonas Suotamo as Lurch, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Joanna Lumley as Grandma Hester Frump, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus, and Evie Templeton as Agnes Demille, among others.

New song alert!

During the “‘Wednesday’ Graveyard Gala” in New York City on August 28, the pop icon made a surprise appearance to announce that she will release a new song, “The Dead Dance,” on Wednesday, which will be featured in the series.

“I’m so excited for you to see it, and I can’t wait to see you do ‘The Dead Dance,’” Gaga said in a clip shared by Netflix on X (Formerly Twitter).

The multi-awarded singer, fondly called by her fans as “Mother Monster,” told Netflix Tudum that her forthcoming track was inspired by a “breakup” and has a “really cool, funky beat underneath it.”

“It was all about the way that we sometimes feel when it’s over; how a relationship ending can kill our ability to feel hopeful about love,” Gaga said.

“And that is when the song becomes not just about the relationship; it becomes about having fun with your friends when you’ve been through something tough and amazing,” she added.

The first season of “Wednesday” premiered on Netflix in 2022, with eight episodes.

A splice clip from season one showing Ortega dancing to The Cramps’ “Goo Goo Muck” made rounds online, after fans edited the video and changed the background music to Gaga’s “Bloody Mary.” This ignited a TikTok dance trend, which Gaga and the series acknowledged.

Later, Gaga recreated the viral dance from “Wednesday” and posted it on TikTok with the caption, “Bloody Wednesday.”

Gaga is embarking on her “The Mayhem Ball” tour in support of her latest studio album, “MAYHEM.” She brought the concert to Singapore in May, which drew a large international crowd, including Filipino “Little Monsters” Vice Ganda and Lady Gagita.
