Accio new cast!

After much anticipation, HBO has officially revealed the actors set to play the iconic golden trio—Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger—in its upcoming Harry Potter reboot series.

Scottish actor Dominic Mclaughlin takes on the titular role while British actress Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger. Meanwhile, Alastair Stout— another British actor— will play as Ron.

Both Mclaughlin and Stout were described as “screen newcomers” while Stanton’s roots can be traced from the theater as she played the titular role in West End’s adaptation of Matilda the Musical.

The three were chosen from among the 30,000 children that auditioned last year.

“We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there,” said showrunner Francesca Gardener and executive producer and director Mark Mylod in a statement.

The young trio joins John Lithgow as headmaster Albus Dumbledore, with Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.

Also confirmed are Nick Frost as Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Professor Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Filch, with more casting announcements on the way.

Filming is set to begin this summer at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK, with the first season potentially premiering on HBO Max as early as 2026.
