YOUNG pop/alternative band Cup of Joe marked the first anniversary of their chart-topping single “Multo,” which gave listeners major LSS (last song syndrome) and caused them to relapse.
On Instagram, the five-piece act—composed of Gian Bernardino, CJ Fernandez, Gabriel Fernandez, Xen Gareza, and Raphaell Ridao—thanked their fans for supporting the viral song and making it part of their journey.
“One year ago, we released ‘Multo’ and it found a home in your stories, heartbreaks, and healing,” the band wrote.
“Now tell us—ikaw, anong multo ang binitawan mo this year?” they asked, along with the hashtag “MultoVersary.”
First released in September 2024 as a single, “Multo,” a Tagalog word for ghost, is a song about past feelings and memories that continue to haunt an individual to this day.
Every listener has their own definition of “Multo.” Some say it is their failed relationship, while others view it as their greatest regret or missed opportunity.
“Multo” was written by Ridao and his brother, Immanuel, in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The track was later included in Cup of Joe’s debut album, “Silakbo,” released in January 2025.
In March, the band dropped a music video for “Multo,” starring Elijah Canlas and Miles Ocampo.
“Multo” entered the Billboard Global 200 chart at #181 in April, ranking ahead of other popular songs, such as “Handlebars” by Jennie of the K-pop powerhouse BLACKPINK and singer-songwriter Dua Lipa, “You’ll Be In My Heart” by Indonesian singer-songwriter NIKI, and “Toxic Till The End” by BLACKPINK’s Rosé.
Meanwhile, Cup of Joe recently released a new song, “Sandali,” to celebrate their seventh anniversary.
The Original Pinoy Music (OPM) band is set to return to the Philippine concert stage for “Stardust,” a three-night show happening from October 10 to 12 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
