Group asks help to save dogs from Digos pound’s death row

by Deanna Macaranas

AN animal shelter is seeking help from netizens to save dogs from the Digos City dog pound in Davao del Sur.

Davao-based animal shelter Project Zero K shared pictures on Facebook over the weekend, of nine dogs to be “put down unless adopted.”

“All of these dogs will be executed by the Digos City municipal pound unless adopted. Please PM to save a life,” the group said.

According to the Animal Welfare Act under the Anti-Rabies Act, it is said that animals who aren’t claimed from the local government pound will be put on adoption.

Those who weren’t adopted will be disposed of in any manner.

While there’s a law that prohibits killing animals such as dogs and cats, it can be done when it is meant to control the animal population.

The group said that they were willing to pay for the adoption fee, vaccination, and delivery of dogs in order to pull out the animals that are lined up for execution.
